It’s cooler on this part of the walk, sounds of running water from the rocks nearby. A large White-faced Heron emerges and stands still on a rock. We pause too, making eye contact with the bird. The sound of water trickling is the only sound we hear. As the cool air laps around us, the bird preens and we take the moment in, so special, so unique.
