About the artist: Angela Lober is an internationally recognised botanical artist. In 2018 she was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal, Royal Horticultural Society, London. Her work is held in several local and international collections including the Isaac M Sutton Collection in New York and the Shirley Sherwood Collection in the UK, as well as in the State Botanical Collection, Melbourne; the Florilegium at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney; and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Pittsburgh USA.
With a strong focus on colour and composition, Angela aims “to capture the personality of the subject and its unique character in paint. The robust form and colour of Australian natural flora is a constant source of inspiration.”
About the Artwork: Parthenocissus tricuspidata ‘Boston Ivy’ is painted in watercolour on calfskin vellum which Lober particularly enjoys working on due to the clarity and luminosity of colour and detail that can be achieved on such a refined and specialized material.
