I like to create work that is very colourful as well as both functional and decorative. Each piece features an Australian bird as most provide a wonderful palette, and each bird has its unique personality and quirks. The colours on the piece are determined by the colours of the bird. I always hope that they are cheerful and bring joy to the owner.
I use earthenware clay as the temperature at which this clay is fired allows me to keep the colours bright. I use ceramic underglazes as I am able to get quite accurate colours. A clear glaze finishes the piece. Most of my work is thrown and some more complex pieces are slip cast .
I think my work would be suitable for the Artisans at the Gardens show as it is based on nature and many of the birds I make can be found in the Gardens
